The RSPCA Queensland teams are unleashing their artistic talents in their latest fundraiser.

Once again RSPCA Queensland is hosting a quirky fundraiser for animals in need - Poorly Drawn Pets.

This Friday, March 5, and Saturday, March 6, pet owners can have their very own paw-quality picture drawn of their four-legged friends.

During COVID-19 last year, the fundraiser was an absolute hit with the RSPCA Queensland Facebook page going into meltdown with hundreds of members of the public donating to have their pet photos drawn by volunteers.

This year the RSPCA is hoping to raise more than $20,000 for animals currently in their care.

RSPCA Spokesperson Michael Beatty said it costs more than $25 dollars a day to provide just the essentials for one animal in RSPCA care.

"So for a $25 donation, you can not only have your own pet's photo drawn poorly for a bit of fun, but also help an animal in need for a day," he said.

He reassured pet owners that not every portrait was absolutely terrible.

"There are a lot of laughs to be had, but some animal artists are in the mix that might produce a gem too," he said.

Here's how it will work:

  • Head to the Poorly Drawn Pet Portraits post on the RSPCA QLD Facebook page.
  • Make a $25 donation (per pet to be drawn) via the secure website or the Paypal Giving Fund button on the post itself.
  • Comment on the post with your photo to be drawn and proof of your donation.
  • Receive your masterpiece in a reply comment by Monday, March 8.
