From today, Tuesday, December 1, SA businesses will be required to have Quick Reader check-in systems in place in a greater effort to track people who attend their venues where COVID-SAfe Plans are implemented.
Last week SA Premier Steven Marshall said the benefits of being able to have the information at hand would mean quicker contact tracing if a case of COVID-19 was discovered.
"It would be as simple as downloading the free mySA GOV app and selecting the COVID safe check-in tile from the home page," Mr Marshall said.
"You simply then follow the prompts to scan the QR code and sign in when you enter a business or a venue.
"People who already have the app will need to update it for access."
Mr Marshall said the data would only be available to SA Health for contract tracing and would only be kept for 28 days.
Hard copies of a venue's COVID-SAfe Plan will be available for those who do not own a mobile phone.
"Businesses with a COVID safe plan will receive a new COVID safe plan via email that includes a QR code to print off and to display," Mr Marshall said.
"Any new COVID safe plans created online will generate a QR code to print off and to display," he added.
How to access the QR app
According to SA Police Commissioner Grant Stevens, app users do not require a driver's licence to create an account, however those without a licence will need to contact Service SA.
Begin by downloading the mySA Gov app, in either the App Store or Google Play store found on your iphone or android device, details found at https://www.sa.gov.au/mysagov
Create an account in three steps:
- Enter your details - provide an email address and password to create the account
- Active your account - a confirmation email will be sent. Click the activation link within 30 minutes
- Confirm your identity - provide evidence of who you are to access your personal records
What do I need?
Your South Australian Driver's Licence/Learner's permit photo card where you must enter your driver's licence number and also the number located on the back of the licence in the top right-hand corner.
Registration Renewal Notice for any vehicle registered to you where you must enter 'your payment number'.

For assistance, you are urged to contact Service SA.
Once logged in with your email and password, click on the 'COVID safe Check-In link and follow the prompts which includes accessing your camera for scanning purposes at each venue you visit.
