Sport has the incredible power of bringing people together to rally behind an important cause.

Some of Bordertown and Mundulla's most talented cricketers will pull the pads on and raise money for a great cause on Australia Day when the Tatiara Rivals and MacKenzie All-Stars lock horns.

Last year, both sides produced an entertaining one-day match at Mundulla Football Oval that resulted in the home side winning by 10 runs, but most importantly raising $1571 for the McGrath Foundation.

Tatiara Rivals' Shane Neale said this year the players were going to raise funds for Beyond Blue, but agreed to raise money for bushfire relief instead.

He mentioned the highly anticipated match at Bordertown Football Oval, was organised by Lynton MacKenzie, who will bring down a team full of talented cricketers from Adelaide for the clash.

"Luckily one of his players won't be able to play due to him having to play for Kensington on the same day - which is good for us," Mr Neale joked.

He also praised the brilliant work that Lynton MacKenzie does for local communities.

"Lynton has always been a big supporter of local communities and he's always got right behind local cricket as well," Mr Neale said.

Before the main event kicks off, Bordertown and Mundulla's cricketing legends will wind back the clock, when they take part in a 10 over per side curtain raiser at 10:30am.

At 12:30pm, the Tatiara Rivals will look to get back-to-back wins against the MacKenzie All-Stars.

Mr Neale said Bordertown's Nick Hampel, along with Mundulla's Tyne Excell and Jared Wiese will have a big say in who gets selected for the home side.

He also urged the local community to rally behind the event, with match expected to create a great atmosphere.

It wouldn't be Australia Day without lamb, so players will volunteer their time on the barbecue, cooking lamb donated by JBS. Drinks and dinner will also be available on the day.

The money raised from the day will be split, with funds going towards bushfire relief, Bordertown Cricket Club and Mundulla Cricket Club.

Event schedule:

Bordertown Legends vs Mundulla Legends - January 26, 10:30am at Bordertown Football Oval.

Tatiara Rivals vs MacKenzie All-Stars - January 26, 12:30pm at Bordertown Football Oval.
