Mundulla Concert Committee disperses raised funds

After five successful concerts which have raised countless funds for great causes, the Mundulla Concert Committee has reluctantly decided to retire.

During the five years, an approximate $100,000 has been raised towards the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS), Leukaemia Foundation and Breast and Prostate Cancer.

Most recently, the concert committee hosted another successful fundraising concert which saw Chunky Custard perform at the Mundulla Oval on February 9.

Mundulla Concert Committee president Geoff Guy said this year's distribution had been one of the most rewarding, with some of it going towards new hospital equipment.

"This year's distribution included $7300 to St Andrew's Hospital. This was most satisfying as it enabled the Chemotherapy Unit to purchase a treatment chair (total cost of $10,000) for use in both prostate and breast cancer treatments," Mr Guy said.

Mr Guy said the hospital was full of appreciation when it heard the committee was going to donate funds towards a treatment chair.

"The hospital's appreciation was overwhelming and we thank all our concert supporters. The St Andrew's Hospital need another two chairs to complete this program," Mr Guy said.

St Andrew's Hospital wasn't the only institution to receive a kind donation, with the RFDS and Leukemia Foundation also collecting a share of the committee's funds.

"The RFDS and Leukemia Foundation were also very appreciative of the $7300 they each received. A total of nearly $22,000 has been donated," Mr Guy said.

With the committee going into retirement, members would like to thank all of the tireless helpers and supporters over the years.

The retirement opens the door for potentially another group to step in and take its place, continuing the great work the Mundulla Concert Committee has completed during the last five years.

"As this committee is retiring, the recipe for a successful event is in place," Mr Guy said.
