Guildhouse has coordinated a huge opportunity for regional South Australian artists to build their careers and showcase their talents, encouraging them to apply for their new $50,000 fellowship.
The inaugural Guildhouse Fellowship is a significant opportunity to reward and nurture exceptional mid-career to established South Australian artists.
Open to all mid-career artists statewide, Guildhouse Chief Executive Director Emma Fey encourages regional artists to apply.
"With one in six practicing artists living regionally, the Fellowship is an exceptional lure for those artists looking for an opportunity to shift their practice to the next stage and really celebrate the role the regions play in nurturing the diversity of our state's artistic practice. We hope to see many regional artists apply," she said.
Transitioning from an emerging artist into a successful established artist requires determined research, experimentation and training throughout the mid-career years.
By joining powers with the Art Gallery of South Australia and the James and Diana Ramsay Foundation, the inaugural Guildhouse Fellowship offers a transformative opportunity for one mid-career South Australian artist to conclude with a presentation outcome at the Gallery.
The Guildhouse Fellowship is specifically for artists who have moved beyond the early years of their practice, but need an expansive opportunity to explore, research and create.
"A fellowship at this career stage provides an artist with not only the financial means to dedicate to their practice, but the intellectual space to commit to their development and professional sustainability." Guildhouse Chief Executive Emma Fey said.
Applications are open until the end of April 2019.
