Over $5500 was raised for beyondblue at Keith Community Fun Run

Over 110 individuals, from both near and far, gathered for the ‘Keith Community Fun Run’ on Sunday September 9.

The fun run involved participants completing a 5km or 10km walk/run and gathering monetary sponsorship from family and friends.

Keith Fun Run organiser and committee member Fiona Sanders said over $5500 was raised from the day and proceeds would go toward beyondblue.

“There were also generous donations from a number of businesses not only in dollar contributions but also in prizes for participants,” Fiona said. “It was fantastic!

“100 percent of all the money raised will go directly to the beyondblue call centre and will support people suffering with depression and anxiety.”

Fiona said event organisers could not have asked for a better day to host the event.

“The weather was perfect and the fun run was a huge success,” she said.

“Participants ranged in age from 6 months old to their eighties!”

Fiona said they had received incredible support from the Keith community.

“Our major sponsors were Vermeeren Bros and Elders,” she said.

“The committee would like to give a big thanks to the Tatiara District Council, The Keith Lions Club and The Tintinara Lions Clubs for their donation and time on the day.

“A big thanks to everyone who participated!”

Fiona said due to the success of the day, the committee have decided to run the same event next year.

“Look out for flyers and like our facebook page ‘Keith Community Fun Run’ for updates,” she said.

“My motto for the event was “together we can make a difference” and we have certainly made a difference to help improve peoples wellbeing Australia wide!”
