Bordertown Gun Club July shoot

Eighteen shooters from a wide area gathered to compete in fine but very windy conditions at Bordertown Gun Club on July 22.

Apsley, Horsham, Keith, Kingston, Naracoorte, Mount Gambier and Bordertown were all represented.

First event for the day was 50 target pointscore championship, shooters scoring 3 points for a hit with the first barrel and 1 point only using a second barrel.

Top score went to Gavin Height, the only shooter to shoot all 50 targets and using only 3 second barrels in doing so: 147/150

Overall and AA Grade: Gavin Height 147/150 from Ash Hawker 144/150

A Grade: Anthony Mulraney 143/150 from Peter Mellington 141/150

B Grade: Sam Dancer 130/150 from Malcolm McGrice 125/150

C Grade: Doug Harris 120/150 from Bruce Papst 114/150

Second event of the day, 30 targets continental, the targets being released with varying angles of height as well as left and right.

Five shooters, Bob Crane, Anthony Mulraney, Ash Hawker, Gavin Height and Kevin Mules, all shot possibles.

In the three way shoot off for AA grade Ash Hawker dropped out first missing his 7th target and Gavin Height missed his 10th target (his only lost target for the day) making Kevin Mules the AA winner on 40/40.

A Grade: Anthony Mulraney 40/40 from Bob Crane 39/40

B Grade: Kane Hawker 33/33 from Sam Dancer 32/33

C Grade: Doug Harris 24/30 from Bruce Papst 18/30

The club’s next monthly shoot will be held on Sunday September 16 with a 50 Target Double Barrel Championship and a 40 Target Single Barrel event.
