The World President of Associated Country Women of the World visited the Limestone Coast on Wednesday as part of her tour around South Australia.
The tour was a part of Ruth Shanks promoting and educating those within the ACWW groups about the larger picture of what they acheive.
“Many women from regional areas don’t get to see what impact they have world-wide,” Ms Shanks said.
“So to meet them and inform them of the importance they are making is an amazing part of the job.”
Ms Shanks, who is originally from Dubbo in NSW, travels the world and works with disadvantaged women all over.
“We are starting up a study of region women, to collect data and see what needs to be done,” Ms Shanks said.
Ms Shanks works alongside the UN, to provide as many opportunities for regional women as possible.
“There is no data about regional women, so we are aiming to change that.”
Ms Shanks gave a speech and hosted a question and answer section at the event on Wednesday, with WAB and CWW groups from all over the South East attending.
