Kaniva railway station destroyed over the weekend

A suspicious fire over the weekend has destroyed one of Kaniva’s most historic buildings.

In the early hours of Saturday morning May 12 between 2am and 2.30 am, Kaniva’s heritage listed railway station went up in flames. 

Services were able to extinguish the fire but significant structural damage to the station had already been caused.

Police revealed in a media release that fortunately no one was injured during the incident. 

The incident is currently being investigated by the Horsham Crime Investigation Unit and the fire is being treated as suspicious.
