Gourmet food and wine, glamorous fashion and racing action come together in February at one of South Australia's most popular race meets, the 2018 Minijumbuk Naracoorte Cup.
With a special visit from Adelaide Crows legend, Tony Modra (pictured), the Minijumbuk Naracoorte Cup to be held on Sunday, February 11 is set to be a highlight on the 2018 racing calendar.
“We’re very excited to welcome Tony to help us celebrate the Naracoorte Racing Club’s largest event, the Naracoorte Cup,” club secretary Tammy Pretlove said.
Tammy said while the event had grown in popularity over the years – particularly with the younger event goers – it would always showcase the best of country racing in new ways, while remaining true to its heritage, and celebrating the many successful businesses that have originated locally.
The inaugural cup event has always been a community celebration with many local businesses being involved for almost 20 years - Minijumbuk, Coopers and Koonara Winery just to name a few.
Major partner and global brand Minijumbuk, founded 40 years ago in Naracoorte, has grown to become a leader in premium wool bedding products. Minijumbuk is involved with the cup which allows them to be closely tied with the community, as well as celebrate with staff.
There will be plenty of food and beverage options to purchase on the day, including hospitality packages available in the new Coopers Koonara Marquee, where racegoers can enjoy a live DJ and a fully inclusive package with Koonara wines and Coopers beers and cider from 12 noon until the last race.
“This year we’re hoping to see more people than ever join us at the track, to see the new marquee by local winery Koonara and Coopers, which showcases the region so superbly,” Tammy said.
Coopers Brewery are now in their 10th consecutive year supporting the Naracoorte Racing Club, each year hosting a lavish marquee for racegoers to enjoy. Coopers are no strangers to racing events, holding VIP marquees in Balaklava each year as well as Kangaroo Island in previous years.
Newest partner Koonara Winery is the family run-and-owned winery of Dru and Nicole Reschke’s property in Coonawarra.
Also no stranger to hosting a glamourous racing affair, Dru and Nicole have held the Platinum Marquee at Mount Gambier Racing Club and have hosted hundreds of eventgoers.
The Naracoorte Cup Fashion on the Field is a qualifying heat in the 2017/2018 Fashion at The Races competition, and Thoroughbred Racing SA is calling on country racegoers to bring their fashion A-game to the event.
