Tatiara District Council will have a new CEO for the first time in 15 years.
At yesterday’s council meeting, mayor Graham Excell announced that council’s new CEO will be Anne Champness.
Ms Champness takes over from retiring CEO Rob Harkness who will finish on November 24 after being in the position for 15 years.
Ms Champness, who has signed a four-year contract and will start work on November 27, currently works for Hindmarsh Shire based at Nhill as director of corporate and community services.
She has 11 years local government experience, nine years at Hindmarsh as well as two at Southern Grampians Shire Council.
Mr Excell was excited to announce the new CEO to the council at the October meeting.
"We had almost 50 applications for the role which was narrowed down to six and then to three,” he said.
“Council’s selection panel and the whole council were pleased to appoint Anne to this very important council position.
“Anne displays a warm and empathetic style demonstrating strong people management, community engagement and technical skills at all levels.
“We look forward to working with her in delivering what the community needs and in keeping the Council in a strong and stable financial position.”
The incoming CEO said she was excited about being given the opportunity of working in the Tatiara.
“I am looking forward to commencing the role of Chief Executive Officer at the Tatiara District Council and working with the mayor, councillors, staff and the community to ensure that Tatiara is a wonderful place to live, work and play,” Ms Champness said.
“The Tatiara is highly regarded in the local government sector and I am looking to build on past successes and seek new opportunities for the organisation’s and community’s future.
“I am also very much looking forward to becoming part of the Tatiara community and living in this beautiful part of South Australia.”
