The genetics behind the rams at Kiandra were strong as ever as the growth rate that Ryan Kluska had been working hard on all year offered all that buyers in the industry were after.
Top ram for the day was $4600 and purchased by Glendon Hancock on behalf of John Cash (JG Cash) at who lives at Streaky Bay on the Eyre Peninsula.
John purchased six rams all up at a total cost of $21700.
Glendon said “they ticked all the boxes for ASPV’s whcih is very good for growth.
He said they weren’t too bad for fleece and positive for muscle and fat.
Other multiple purchasers included Wheare and Glover from EP Livestock who purchased 10 rams at a total cost of $29,800 and Karwin Nominees PTY LTD with 11 rams at a total cost of $31,400.
Ryan gave special thanks to Kerrin Glover and the family who have been purchasing rams from Kiandra for 25 years.
The average ram sold for $2360 and 68 of the 72 offered were purchased at the auction.
Ryan Kluska said “It’s an outstanding sale result for me. It’s more then I could have expected
“Our average is in the top 10 percent of fleece weights and that reflected in the sales results.
“We are at the top 15 percent nationally for the post weaning weight and the yealing weight as well.”
Dean Coddington from Elders said that as well as the repeat buyers, there were a few new ones this year.
“Most of the buyers are chasing a lot of the figures. That’s why they come to Kiandra.”
