Padthaway Uniting Church is heading into the holiday season by holding a special event this weekend.

The local community has the opportunity to create and share a Christmas tree which showcases what the festive holiday means to them.

This weekend, the creative Christmas event is open to the public, and will showcase individual styles and stories on Christmas celebrations.

Those who wish to participate are encouraged to come along and join them in beginning the festive season, as the public are given the chance to showcase their personal meaning of Christmas.

The church along with the hall will be decorated to commemorate the festive season with vineyards, wine processors, rural supplies and local shops creating a backdrop to individual families and farms with their trees.

The Uniting Church is encouraging those who wish to participate to include anything they wish, so long as it is green and conical.

A full sized caravan may possibly be appearing on the property also decked out in Christmas cheer, to influence those involved.

The students from Padthaway Primary School have recently been creating unique artwork, working alongside the theme of the church to put on show for all the community to see. The Uniting Church would like to invite the public to join in on the festivities held this weekend, with the church open all weekend.

Voting will also be a part of the event, with the public having the chance to see the trees which will be on display, and vote for the best business, community group as well as family and individual tree.

Christmas Lego will also be on display, featuring a winter village with a miniature tree in pride of place.

Children are invited to come along and join in, creating their own trees from Lego with prizes to be won for those Under 5, Under 8, Under 12 and Open.

Christmas Tree Carolling will be held on Sunday at 10am and being the highlight of the weekend, the Uniting Church is inviting the public to come and join in to sing some favourite carols and enjoy some Christmas tree stories.

The Padthaway Uniting Church is located along the Riddoch Highway, and will be open Saturday and Sunday for the special event. For more information, contact Pam May on 8765 6116 or 0457 120 834.
