Students perform on the big stage

Tatiara District Primary Schools including Bordertown, Keith, Mundulla and Padthaway recently sent students to the 2017 South East Primary Schools’ Music Festival in Mount Gambier.

The festival celebrated its 30 year anniversary this year and was held from October 23 through til October 27.

The festival was held in Millicent for 25 years before switching to a bigger venue in Mount Gambier for the last five years.

Primary school students from all over the Tatiara participated in the festival on the Friday night with a few soloists standing out on the night.

The soloists that performed on the night were:

  • Hayley Treloar, Bordertown
  • Jemimah Loller, Keith Area School
  • Poppy Moyle-Read, Padthaway
  • Will Krop and Kayla Morris, Mundulla

Students also took part in the orchestra and the various school choirs took part in the festivities.

Robynne Jaeschke from Keith, was the Musical Director for this year and helped the students immensely in the lead up to their performances.

Students spend all year learning the lyrics and choreography for the songs that have been selected for the show, and it is all brought together with one rehearsal the night before with all South East schools.

The Tatiara schools also met up throughout the year to practice their songs which gave them a bit more of a feel of how things would run on the night.

Students thoroughly enjoyed the experience of being on stage and performing to a large crowd.
