Mithun and Nikki Reddy from the Shell service station are this month’s recipients of the Bordertown on the Move award for special effort.

The award was presented to the shop owners of the Shell service station for their efforts in improving and modernising the premises as well as establishing the very popular takeaway menu.

Bordertown on the Move chairman Ken McInerney was on hand to present the award to the worthy recipients.

“This award recognises the fact that they have gone ahead and improved the appearance and provided excellent facilities, especially the takeaway side of things,” Mr McInerney said.

This is the second award that the couple has received in the past few months after receiving the Tatiara Tourism Committees, service with a smile award earlier this year.

Shop owner Mithun is grateful for all of the support the Tatiara community has given them since taking over the shop.

“We would just like to thank everyone who keeps coming in and for letting other people know what we have on offer here, it has made our jobs a lot easier and we are very grateful,” Mithun said.

The success of the takeaway menu is evident in the fact that the couple are looking at ways to make the service better for tourists and Tatiara locals.

The couple are hoping to expand the store in the near future to allow for more people to dine in rather than just pick up takeaways.
