The Keith community is excited to be hosting a leg of the 2017 Variety Bash.
The Keith stop is part of the Mount Barker to Mount Gambier “Pastures To Pines” journey.
The two night stayover at the Keith Showgrounds is set to be a jam-packed affair for the Bash participants, with action and events having been in planning by the 2017 Variety Bash Keith Leg committee since the start of the year.
Committee member Glen Simpson is looking forward to showing off the town and giving the bashers a good time, having planned a number of surprises and demonstrations using the extensive showground facilities.
2017 Variety Bash Keith Leg committee president Tony Griffin has had a long affiliation with the charity, having participated in a number of bashes in the past.
“I am proud to be involved with a charity that manages to do so much for disadvantaged children and communities, and stays true to its vision that all children should be able to follow their dreams and be the best they can be,” Tony said.
Tony’s involvement in the Variety community is what initiated the visit to Keith on this year’s Bash.
In addition to hosting a leg of the 2017 Bash, Variety have recently generously supported a number of initiatives in the Keith community.
Organisations that have received assistance from Variety this year include, the Keith War Memorial Community Centre Kindergarten and Childcare Centre, Keith and Tintinara District Show Society Inc and Keith Area School.
Funds have been used to provide upgrades and improvements to child based infrastructure, provide fiscal support to decrease social diversity disadvantage and enhance the child friendliness of public facilities.
Keith War Memorial Community Centre Kindergarten And Childcare Centre director, Callie Manser, said that the the play equipment, sensory garden and slide to be installed on our rock wall will benefit children from ages 0-12 of all abilities.
“115 children currently attend the integrated centre across long day care, DECD pre-school and out of schools hours care programs. That is around 80 families from Tintinara, Padthaway, Keith and surrounding districts that use the service. These facilities will benefit so many children now and well into the future also and we are so grateful” said Callie.
The 2017 Variety Bash Keith Leg committee members wish to invite the wider community in joining them to welcome the Bashers when they arrive in town.
Feel free to come along to the Keith Showgrounds on Wednesday August 16 from 4-6.30pm.
The public is welcome to see the cars and meet the Bash participants.
There will be also be a fireworks display shortly after dark. Entry is free and open to the public.
Following the fireworks display the Keith Hotel Motel will be offering a bash meal deal on the night, to those that come along.
