A former Westpac bank employee has returned to Bordertown in good timing to farewell the local branch.
Graeme Watson who now lives in NSW has come through in time to attend the farewell gathering that was held at the bank on May 10 for past and present employees.
Graeme’s father, Jack Watson was the manager of the Westpac premises many years ago, and initiated Graeme’s entry into the banking industry that lasted for 26 years.
Further to that, Graeme pursued real estate for 31 years, before having retired.
Graeme said he was very disappointed to hear that the branch was closing down, as it had always been the biggest bank in town.
Westpac had an open morning tea yesterday for customers to thank and farewell the community, before closing their doors permanently on Friday afternoon.
