ALTHOUGH people may think police are generic in their tasks, two new recruits to Bordertown have obtained experience and expertise from two different worlds.
Newly settled police officers Constable Jamie Lloyde and First Class Constable Matthew Kelly have both found themselves in a career as police through completely different paths.
Constable Lloyde was a former Flinders University student studying teaching, and Constable Kelly a former soldier in the Australian army based in Darwin specialising in armoured fighting vehicles.
Before coming to Bordertown Constable Lloyde had his first experiences in the police force in Whyalla and Constable Kelly at Holden Hill following his stint in Criminal Investigation Branch.
Constable Kelly feels fortunate that his new work partner is a former Bordertown local, having grown up in the area, which gives him a head-start in knowing the area; therefore providing him the opportunity to be more efficient in his new role.
Constable Kelly said he came to Bordertown because he wanted to experience the country life: “the local community is great.”
