BUGs reach the line

25 Jan, 2012 08:39 AM
BORDERTOWN’s local cycling group, the Border Bicycle User groups (BUGs) have ridden from Norwood to Tanunda in “The Bupa Challenge Tour.”

Eleven riders of the Border BUGs team aged from 15 to 60 rode in the event as part of the Tour Down Under, covering a distance of 138km.

The event commenced ahead of the professional riders on part of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) World Tour circuit, as a social ride challenge.

Riders took off last Friday amongst an estimated 8000 registered riders, leaving from Norwood at 6.30am and finishing at 9am.

Border Bugs captain, Hayden Maher said: “The ride went well, we all seemed to get there on time and Steven Bitter and I arrived at the same time.”
