A ‘Royale’ Cup finish

14 Dec, 2011 03:19 PM
CLUB Royale has taken home the Bordertown Cup with a nail-biting finish, scrapping for victory against Irish High King.

The Bordertown Racing Club Committee lived up to its words for a larger crowd, with the annual Cup race meet – attracting over 1500 people to the course – that’s over 500 added to last year’s attendance.

Many race goers, particularly women, were dressed in their finest regalia for the race, to see Club Royale scrap the win.

Club Royale crossed the line with a time of 1:58.48 against Irish High King’s 1:58.49 (head x 2 3/4 x 1 1/4).

Tanya Rasmussen of Mount Gambier accepted the cup on behalf of Club Royales trainers’ Kerry and Dean Creek who could not be present.

Tanya said: “It’s just been a fantastic day,” the win has seen trainers Kerry and Dean receive a cash prize win of $13,500.
