LOUD engines and dirt clouds filled the skies of Keith for the first annual “Ute Muster” to raise funds for the Keith and District Hospital.
An estimated 800 people flocked through the gates of the Keith Showgrounds on January 14 for the many sights and sounds, including competition Show ‘n’ Shine, circle work, food and music.
A combined effort by ute enthusiasts, the Hospital’s Action Group and community supporters helped raise $9000 for the hospital on the day.
Funding was raised through gate takings, ute registrations and circle work entrance fees.
A separate cheque was handed over on the day by event initiator Wolfgang Van Der Zee to the hospital’s interim CEO/director of nursing Charmane Hill for $4725 as a result of the ute convoy.
Ms Hill said: “The day was pretty successful, given the time of year and the short notice; it was well supported in terms of advertising and organising stalls.”
